Since 2016, the Global Sports Initiative has held three international conferences on themes of sports, globalism, and social responsibility. Our conferences have brought academics and practitioners--current and former athletes, activists, coaches, filmmakers, architects, philanthropists, etc.-- into direct conversation to discuss how and why sports have such a heavy influence on people around the world, and how fandom can be channelled into activism.
