 Richard Giulianotti is Professor of Sociology at Loughborough University and Professor II at the University of South-Eastern Norway. He has researched and published widely on football (soccer), sport, globalization, development and peace, policing and security, youth, crime and deviance, mega-events, and migration. His most recent books include *Globalization and Football* (Sage, 2009) and *Globalization and Sport* (Wiley, 2007), both with Roland Robertson; and *Policing the London 2012 Olympics* (with G. Armstrong &amp; D. Hobbs, Routledge, 2016).

 He has edited many books, including (as co-editor) *The Routledge Handbook of Sport for Development and Peace* (Routledge, 2019), and has published numerous articles in international journals and edited books.

 He has undertaken many research projects funded by the European Commission, UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), and the Nuffield Foundation. He is currently undertaking a major ESRC-funded research project on alcohol consumption in football contexts in the UK. He recently completed two substantial recent ESRC-funded projects on the contributions of global sports to promoting development and peace in different parts of the world
